Deep in the Southern Appalachian Mountains - NCWN West Writers Celebrates Twenty Years of their professional writing organization known as NC Writers Network West.

Imagine - Twenty years for us "unknown" writers of the NC State. Twenty years later, we are still about the business of writing. If anything true can be said,  it is this. We consistently celebrate writing. Against all odds, our writers are still here, still writing, still publishing, never winning of course, but that could change. I  overheared a conversation between two poets who were agreeing, a composit of their statements:  "I'd rather see a review of my book in Prairie Schooner than to be a finalist in  the I NEVER HEARD OF IT contest."

I'm so glad the picnic was well attended. This is the first one I've missed, I believe. I know all had a great time. I congratulate US for being such a find literary organization.
NCWN West is the best thing that ever happened to me.

You captured the picnic beautifully Nancy through your artistic eye. Looks like everyone had a great time. All of the writers of western NC (including myself) owe you a huge debt of gratitude for having the courage and conviction to organize a group over here in the far west part of the state.

Also congratulations on 3 years of blogging. It was in October three years ago that we sat in the computer room in Hayesville and hit the "publish" button for our blogs.

Your friendship means a great deal to me.
Sam
